FAQS

You have questions... We have answers!

DO YOU TAKE INSURANCE?

Our team can take some major insurances. The Better Boob Lactation uses a company called The Lactation Network to bill insurance. Use the Insurance tab to check if you are covered. We will both receive an email if you are approved or not!

DO YOU OFFER VIRTUAL CONSULTS? WHAT OTHER CONSULTS DO YOU OFFER?

We do! We use a HIPAA compliant application for my virtual consults. This means the virtual consult will be safe and protected. Our team has worked with parents from all over the US and Canada through virtual consultations.

You can view all of our offerings here.

HOW CAN I START WORKING WITH YOU?

First, fill out the insurance form (you can find it in the top right hand corner). This will allow us to see if your insurance will cover the visits with our team. From there, if you are not approved then we can discuss our out of pocket expenses and how to potentially get your insurance to reimburse you for the consultation.

HOW CAN A LACTATION CONSULTANT HELP ME?

As an LC, we can help with so much more than just breastfeeding. Returning to work? Wanting to wean? Starting solids? Exclusive pumping? Need a flange Fitting? Dealing with bottle refusal? The Better Boob team can help!! We are also educated in assessing for oral ties like tongue and lip ties.

WHAT DOES A CONSULTATION INCLUDE?

Our consults are 60-90 min in length. The in-home consultation includes travel to your home.   We have a neonatal scale that we can do weighted feeds. This is very important if we are worried about baby’s weight gain or how much milk they are getting. The weighted feed consists of weighing before a feeding, then feeding and after doing another weight. We then calculate based on those weights how much baby transferred during that feeding.

We also offer virtual consults. It is similar but of course we are limited since we cannot physically be with you. Our team has been doing virtual for sometime though so we get creative and have lots of ways to still assess and educate! This can be an alternative option to the in-home if you are paying out of pocket.
