Chapel Hill, NC. Taking new clients in home, virtually and in office!
Lauren Nichols is a board-certified lactation consultant, postpartum doula, public health professional, and mom based in Chapel Hill. She has been supporting mothers, babies, and new families for more than six years, beginning her work in perinatal support in 2018 as a Certified Lactation Counselor and expanding into postpartum doula care in 2021.
Lauren is deeply passionate about providing patient-centered, evidence-based lactation care and feels honored to walk alongside families during the tender postpartum period, when parents themselves so often need to be heard, supported, and cared for. Her approach is grounded in compassion, active listening, and respect for each family’s individual feeding goals, whatever they may be.
She holds a Masters of Public Health in Health Behavior and Health Education from the University of Michigan, where she studied behavior-change theory and effective communication for diverse learners. She has continued to refine these skills by leading prenatal and postpartum groups, creating educational content for new parents, and guiding families through the transition to life with a newborn.
In her clinical work, Lauren provides both home and clinic visits, newborn feeding support, and postpartum adjustment care. She also volunteers her time caring for infants in a perinatal mental health program so parents can attend treatment, reflecting her commitment to whole-family wellness.
Lauren is known for her calming presence, empathetic nature, and thoughtful, personalized care. Her goal is for every client to leave feeling confident, supported, and at peace with a feeding plan that truly fits their life.
Outside of work, Lauren enjoys tending to her plant collection, playing board games with her children, and going out for sushi with her husband. She looks forward to meeting and caring for many more families in the years to come.

That experience continues to inform her compassionate, practical approach to helping families navigate feeding challenges with confidence.

IBCLC Mentee
Sobia Zehri, RN, BSN, Postpartum Doula
Sobia Zehri has been working as a registered nurse since 2019. She has worked in different settings, but most recently has been working as a pediatric nurse at a Duke Children's outpatient clinic since 2022. She was inspired to become a postpartum doula in 2022 after seeing her sisters go through their own postpartum journeys. She saw how individualized each person's postpartum experience is and how there is a lack of support for families going through these transitions. Her goal was to be a compassionate support person to help her clients thrive and build a healthy foundation as they grow their families. She became more fascinated with breastfeeding as she saw her clients breastfeed and the challenges and questions they had. As she learned more about the topic, she realized how complex and beautiful breastfeeding is and decided to become an IBCLC. She is currently working towards her certification!

CLC Mentee
Carly Stone, Birth and Postpartum Doula
Carly has been working as a birth and postpartum doula since 2023. She felt called to this work after seeing how powerful it can be to have steady, compassionate support during one of life’s most vulnerable and sacred transitions. Walking alongside families through pregnancy, birth, and the early postpartum days has been one of the greatest joys of her life.
As she supported clients through those early newborn weeks, she found herself especially drawn to the tender and sometimes challenging moments of iinfant feeding. Hearing parents share their experiences—whether joyful, frustrating, or somewhere in between—sparked a desire in her to be able to offer even more guidance and encouragement. That passion led her to begin the journey toward becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC).
She’s excited to continue growing her knowledge and gaining hands-on experience in lactation support. Being able to expand the care she offers to families during this season is something she feels deeply grateful for, and she’s looking forward to continuing to learn and grow in this work.

Staci Allgood is a Registered Nurse with a Master’s degree in Nursing Administration and a decade of experience across diverse areas of care. She began her nursing career in cardiac care before transitioning to women’s health and same-day clinics. Her passion for innovation and patient-centered care later led her into telehealth, where she advanced from Nurse Navigator to Nurse Supervisor and currently serves as a Clinical Informaticist.
Staci’s journey toward becoming an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) was deeply personal. After giving birth to her son and facing unexpected challenges with breastfeeding due to gestational diabetes and delayed milk production, she struggled with feelings of frustration and isolation. That transformative experience sparked a calling to provide the same level of care and guidance to others.
Motivated by that moment, Staci designed a virtual lactation program at a leading telehealth company. Her mission is to increase successful breastfeeding rates in the first six months of life, particularly among underserved families. She believes in the power of compassionate support and the use of technology to close gaps in access to care.
